More rain ahead for South Taranaki

Metservice issued a weather warning for most of the country on Saturday which was meant to die down by 9pm Saturday.

Taranaki civil defence have released an update saying

Evening all. Metservice has updated the hours of the heavy rain warning for the mountain. The warning is now valid from 8pm Saturday to 9pm Sunday. The strong wind warning remains in place.

Reports from the weather service predict we’re in for possible rain and winds of up to 42km with 10mm of rain.

Hawera man Jessie Warren said part of his 6ft fence has come down with the earlier winds and will likely keep breaking throughout the night due to the weight.
