A number of locals congregated at the Hawera Islamic center today for the two minutes of silence that’s taken place across New Zealand at 1.32pm.
It is not yet confirmed when the national memorial day will take place.
Seven days on from the Christchurch attack, the country has unified and supported the Muslim community in every way possible.
The Turuturu Road centre is heavily guarded by armed police and has been since the attack on Friday 15th March.
