A teenage rugby player has been seriously injured at a match in South Taranaki.
Police officers were called to Pātea Domain, where a club rugby match was being played, at 1.45pm on Saturday to reports of a teenager with neck and back injuries.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said they transported a patient in serious condition to Hāwera Hospital.
According to the Taranaki Rugby website a second/third division match kicked off at 1pm between the Pātea Rugby and Sports Club and the Southern Rugby Club.
