MetService have issued a heavy watch warning for the Taranaki region and advise periods of heavy rain with thunderstorms are possible from Sunday onwards.
A broad trough continues to move eastwards across central New Zealand. On its northern flank, a moist northwest flow continues to bring rain and squally thunderstorms to many central and northern areas, and Warnings and Watches remains in place.
Rainfall accumulations may approach Warning criteria, especially about higher ground.
They have advised that further rain or showers are expected later on Monday, and the watch could be extended.
