A few like-minded locals got together to bring a spring back in to the townships main Street via donations and good will.
A collective of generous donors gathered soil, compost, plant food and flowers to the initiative they’ve named “Adopted Garden”. Also monetary donations were made by the Pātea Market in a bid to give the town some colour.
We plan to continue so will need more volunteers and more fresh soil, compost and plants.
The team started small, planting roses and daisies outside the former Suzzie Anne’s and Ablion Hotel then moved onto the roadside islands at the town’s Four Square superette.
Spokesperson for the collective Wendy Derrett said the South Taranaki District Council were considering concreting over the small garden areas in the past.
The group are planning to continue with the works if they’re able to source more materials and volunteers to muck in.
